Tool Factory Outlet Celebrates 40 Years and a Renovation in Goshen
In Orange County, Tool Factory Outlet continues its tradition of being a premier source for pro power tools and equipment with a 6,300-square-foot renovation.
Since 1985, Goshen’s Tool Factory Outlet has been a staple of the Orange County community. Founded by the Schindler family all those decades ago, the store originally set out to satisfy a constant demand from contractors during a time of explosive growth in building, remodeling, and new construction. Today, the power tool, equipment, and industrial supply shop remains focused on its mission with a new 6,300-square-foot renovation so that it can continue its vital service to the community and its tradesmen.
40 Years in Business
As Tool Factory Outlet celebrated its 40th anniversary this year, we’re taking a look back at where it all started. Arthur Schindler launched the brand in 1985, motivated by his entrepreneurial spirit and love for bargain deals on quality tools and supplies. Schindler chose the Goshen spot for its unbeatable location on Route 17M, and for the community’s growing population at the time. With Tool Factory Outlet, Schindler was committed to offering an abundance in both selection and quantity of goods.
The brand remained under the ownership of the Schindler family for years until Daniel Dickinson purchased the business in December 2024. With a background in construction, remodeling, e-commerce, and real estate, Dickinson was a natural fit for the new operations lead.
Renovation and Remodeling
While Tool Factory Outlet was once a small shop in the Orange County village, the brand has had its evolutions over the years, including a major renovation that just completed in 2025. “The renovation was a complete remodel of the original store including interior renovation, store fixtures, technology infrastructure, vendor fixtures, offices, and complete inventory reset,” says Dickinson. “Everything is completely new and renovated.”
Prompted by a need to continue serving the tradesmen of the region with top quality goods, the renovation effectively adds to Tool Factory Outlet’s capacity. “The fresh look and overhaul were needed to continue the success of one of the Hudson Valley’s most prized contractor supply stores,” says Dickinson.
In its inventory, the Goshen shop stocks all major power tool and hand tool brands, including Makita, Dewalt, Milwaukee, Husqvarna, Generac, Festool, and Bosch, among many others. Along with tools and equipment, Tool Factory Outlet provides contractor and industrial supply, power tool repairs, online website cataloging, and delivery services for its products.
Though Tool Factory Outlet celebrated its 40th anniversary earlier this year with a series of radio and social media ads, sales on a variety of tools and supplies, and giveaways, the business is also planning a follow-up grand re-opening in the spring of 2026.
